Jabalna Winner of Social Economic 2014

H.E. Mr Talal El Sahili honoring Jabalna, represented by Yolla Noujeim, for the Sustainable Development Category, for the Jabalna Festival Project.

The aim of the Project was to Raise national awareness and involve the Lebanese population concerning the protection and conservation of the
country’s natural heritage and biodiversity.
It tackles not so popular environmental issues such as the importance of the different breeds of birds as well the importance of certain plants, all that within fun and entertaining national festivals.

The concept of the festival consists in bringing awareness on environmental protection for the well being of future generations. It creates a positive image about Lebanon and the efforts put to improve the environment and protect its natural heritage.

Every local village where the festival is taking place benefits from selling local goods and promotes internal ecotourism. Jabalna’s target is to continue to bring awareness on the environmental issues and the biodiversity the country and its leaders are too busy to highlight, with the goal to reach a certain level of responsibility and respect for the well being and health protection of Lebanon’s future generations.
